The Switch may be placed indoors, but you should be aware that the dark-light sensor will not work. It switches the lighting on when it gets dark and off when it gets light.
The Switch NXT works on Bluetooth. However, an internet connection is required to download the app and create an account. Not for the rest of the controls.
No, you cannot control the Switch NXT without a Bluetooth connection. However, a connection is only necessary when you want to turn the lights on or off or change settings. Once everything is set, no continuous connection is needed.
To control the Switch NXT, a device is required on which the Lightpro NXT app can be installed. This can be a phone, but also a tablet.
Yes, you can. Please note that you cannot connect multiple switches in a row. You must create a separate branch for each Switch NXT. In this way, you can also create different zones and thus control each zone in your garden separately.
This is only possible if both accessories are connected to a separate branch and not in series.
- Check whether the Switch has power. The green indicator light on the Switch must light up.
- Press and hold the reset button for at least 6 seconds.
- Wait a few seconds after releasing the button.
- The green indicator light flashes twice, then it stays on permanently. The Switch is now reset to the factory setting.
- If you have already connected to the Switch via the app, remove the Switch from your network now. To do this, go to the ‘Extra’ menu and select ‘Edit product’.
- Then connect the Switch to your network (again). To do this, go to the ‘Extra’ menu in the app and select ‘Add product’. Or select ‘New network’ from the start screen of the app.
Yes, that’s possible. You can set everything up in one phone and then share your data. Please note that the system works on Bluetooth. This means that changes you make on phone 1 are not automatically processed in phone 2. You must scan the QR code again. After this, the app settings will be the same on both phones. *Changing settings on two phones at the same time will cause problems in your network. Always update the settings on one phone and share the updated settings by scanning the QR code.
A scene is required for setting a timer. The timer must know what to do at the right time: which lights to switch on and in which position. That is why you save a scene and link it to the timer. In addition, you can use a scene to retrieve your favourite settings at any time.
You create a scene from a zone. To do this, open the desired zone by clicking on the arrow to the right of the zone. Then set the garden lights and switches to the correct position. If you now choose the option ‘Save as scene’, the current settings are saved as a scene.
Many scenes can be created and stored.
In a zone, you link the products you want to control with one click. A scene means you save your favourite settings, which you then use for a timer.
A timer is linked to the scene you have created. When you create a scene, you save the settings of the zone at that time. If the outdoor lights are off at that time, they will also remain off at the start time of your timer. You can solve this as follows:
- Remove the timer and the scene.
- Go to the zone you want to link to a scene and switch on the outdoor lights at the desired brightness.
- Then click on ‘Save as scene’ and create a new scene.
- Now you can set another timer under ‘Timers’ and link it to the new scene.
To set a timer, your 12-volt garden lighting must be linked to a zone. You can open this zone and save it as a scene. Then go to ‘Timers’ and click on the NXT sign. Link the desired scene and fill in all fields. Save the timer and switch it on in the overview.
Yes, this is possible. Read the detailed instructions here.

Frequently asked questions about 12 volts
Low voltage includes any voltage below 50 volts. So 12 volts is low voltage.
12-volt lighting can be used in every garden, from large to small. If there is a regular power socket in the garden or shed, 12-volt lighting can be connected.
- A fitter is not required for installation, as it’s easy to install everything yourself.
- The cables do not need to be 50 cm under the ground, in contrast to a 230-volt system.
- Very safe for children and pets.
- Easy to expand and quick to connect.
Yes, that’s possible. You disconnect the 230 system and remove the lamps and cables. Then you install the 12-volt system and connect it to a power socket.
These systems can run alongside each other just fine. But you cannot connect a 12 V lamp to a 230 V system or vice versa.
If there is a power socket in the garden, shed or veranda, 12-volt lighting can be connected.
All you need is a working power socket.
No, the voltage to which the lighting is connected says nothing about the light output of a light source. The number of lumens says something about the amount of light from a lamp.
Yes, your transformer plug can be plugged into any UK 230v power socket.
No, the transformer can be connected to any type of power socket.
This is no problem at all and completely safe! In fact, over time, these holes will gradually disappear.
Frequently asked questions about the Lightpro system
A transformer is needed to convert the 230 volts from the power socket into 12 volts.
This depends on your lighting plan. Look at where the power socket is and then where you want to put the lights. The cable must be long enough to go from the power socket to the lights.
Stranded Parallel Thermoplastic. You have 3 types of cabling, SPT 1, 2 and 3. The difference is in the thickness of the insulation over the wires (not in capacity!). This cable is mainly used for low voltages, i.e. our 12-volt system!
We have cables with a length of 25, 50, 100 and 200 metres. We also have extension cables.
The female connector is used to connect a lamp.
The female connector is used to connect a lamp to the main cable and a male connector can be used to connect the cable to the transformer or to make a branch.
Yes, every main cable can be extended using our extension cables.
This depends on your lighting plan. What the wattage is of all the lamps and accessories you have connected and how they are distributed on your cable. If you use the maximum wattage of your transformer, you can use up to 80 metres of cable with an even lighting distribution.
The number of lamps that you can connect to a cable does not depend on the cable, but on the transformer.
Lightpro’s system operates on 12 volts, which is low voltage. Low-voltage cables do not have to be buried.
Yes, you may choose whether you want to conceal them with some soil, gravel or tiles or lay the cables at the back of the border, for example, so that they are not noticeable.
No, that’s not necessary. We do supply them as standard for a neat finish, but an open-ended cable is not dangerous or disruptive to the system.
If making a loop in your garden takes too much cable, you can choose to make a branch. You simply run your main cable straight and the branch, for example, to the left.
The cable distributor can be used if you are short of a connection point on the wiring system, as it enables you to then connect three lights to one connection point. Or, for example, directly on the transformer, allowing three (or two) main cables to run directly from the transformer. You could also use the cable divider to make a branch to a connection point where a lamp is already connected. By placing the cable distributor in between, you will connect the lamp and the extension cable to one point.
Wattage is used in lighting to indicate electrical power. With incandescent lamps, this related to light output, but since the advent of LED, this is indicated in lumens.
The number of lumens of a lamp relates to light output. The higher the number of lumens, the more light your lamp provides.
The transformer must always be connected to a working power socket for the lights to be illuminated.
Frequently asked questions about products
AC means alternating current transformers (involves a power factor). DC is direct current (does not involve a power factor) that goes directly into the power socket.
A transformer is needed to convert mains current (230 V) to 12 volts. The Lightpro system does not work without the transformer.
The power consumption of your lamp is found on the packaging, in the manual and here on the website under the relevant product.
Within the Lightpro range, you could opt for a motion detector, which ensures that the lighting switches on when someone walks past. The remote control + receiver are used to switch the lighting on and off remotely. And then we have the Switch NXT, which allows you to control your lighting system via your smartphone. New Smart WiFi range of controls from Summer 2023.
The motion detector ensures that the lighting switches on when someone walks past within a radius of 5 metres. For example, you place it at the gate or the garage so that the lights go on automatically when someone comes home.
When positioning the sensor, bear in mind that it has a detection area of 90 degrees horizontally and 45 degrees vertically up to 5 metres.
You should take account of the sensor’s detection area of 90 degrees horizontally and 45 degrees vertically up to 5 metres.
The sensitivity of the motion detector is not adjustable.
The motion detector turns on your lights when someone walks by within the detection zone. The Switch NXT switches on your lights with the dark-light sensor, with pre-set timers or when you switch it on or off in the app.
By adding up the number of watts of all your lamps and accessories, you get the total wattage. Based on this, you choose a 60 W, 100 W or 150w transformer. Please note that the transformer can be loaded to a maximum of 75% (New 100w & 150w transformers do not need de-rating)
To ensure the transformer continues to operate correctly, we recommend mounting the transformer in a sheltered spot at least half a metre above the ground.
This is possible if the transformer can be placed in a sheltered spot.
